Some news here from our sister company – Nugent Santé regarding private medical insurance for clients based on the Isle of Man. We thought this may be prudent to share, given the recent news.
If you’re not currently a client of theirs, please feel free to get in touch (contact details at the end of this article).

Isle of Man Private Medical Insurance covering transport to the UK

Following the recent announcement of the closure of the Private Patient Unit (PPU) at Nobles Hospital we believe it would be useful to clarify some of the benefits in your Private Medical Insurance (PMI) policy and also provide assurance that private medical treatment is readily available at a widespread list of UK hospitals for you.

Your Private Medical Insurance policy with Nugent Santéincludes:

  • Outpatient diagnostic consultations, scans, pathology.
  • Inpatient surgery
  • Funding for transport to any hospital in the UK for treatment not available at Nobles Hospital.
  • Choice of hospital in the UK that suits your specific medical requirements
  • Physiotherapy and alternative medicine

We are liaising with our insurer partners to provide advice and support for our clients on the Isle of Man, and have had this response from Aviva:

“We are working on a solution for existing members who need to claim for the use of alternative hospitals in both England and Northern Ireland and will be able to direct those patients to a select facility by the time the unit shuts. Patients in IOM already have additional travel benefits like those in the Channel Islands and those arrangements will remain in force and may be extended, depending on patient need. “

Most insurers do provide a cash limit for travel costs when treatment needs to be sought off the Island so please get in touch with us and we can provide details of what your specific benefits are.

Our dedicated team is here to support you should you require any advice on health insurance or have any queries or concern given this recent news. Please be assured that as our client, the continuation of your health and treatment support is of paramount importance to us.

Should your organisation be interested in additional support, Nugent Santé can provide you with an exclusive service which provides employees with access to medical treatment quickly, whether it be private or NHS. A dedicated Nurse Case Manager will handle the treatment pathway from diagnosis, treatment and aftercare within your choice of hospital. Please contact us for details and a quotation.
