Jon McGowan DipPFS

Jon is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the MAC Group. 

He founded the MAC Group in 2004 after leading a management buy-out of Aon’s Isle of Man financial advice business. Over the past two decades, he has transformed MAC Group into the Island’s largest combined financial advisory and insurance broker — a position built on both strategic acquisitions and sustained organic growth.

Under Jon’s leadership, MAC has completed key acquisitions from Marsh, Anglo Irish, Island Financial Solutions, Aon and Thornton, while achieving a market-leading position in the group pensions sector, now serving around 75% of the Island’s corporate market. His vision blends entrepreneurial drive with a focus on innovation, people, and client service, ensuring MAC Group remains at the forefront of the Island’s financial and insurance industries.

Beyond MAC Group, Jon has diversified his business interests through a family investment portfolio focused on high-growth opportunities in the Isle of Man and the UK. This includes backing several successful startups, such as Cushon — acquired by NatWest in 2023 for £185 million — and owning and selling Nugent Santé, a leading UK private medical insurance broker.

A respected business leader, Jon has served as a Non-Executive Director on the boards of some of the Island’s most prominent companies and contributes to the community as a School Governor at King William’s College. He applies the same discipline and focus that saw him represent Great Britain in triathlon at five World Championships to leading MAC Group’s continued growth.
